The Rotary Club of Constantia built bookshelves for the library at Westlake United Church Trust to help establish a space for reading and foster a culture of literacy in the community. Before this attempt, the nearest library was roughly three and four kilometres away, making it impossible for many residents, particularly children, to access books. Members of the Constantia Rotary Club assembled the library’s bookshelves. Richard Rawson, Lloyd Whitfield, and Hugh Fichardt were among those who assisted with the project. The library serves as a significant community hub, giving access to books, digital resources, and various programs that encourage reading, education, and community engagement, all of which are critical for Westlake residents and their children. This initiative enhances literacy, supports job readiness, and provides an opportunity for continual learning and growth.
