Pieter Greyling explained the various roles that WUCT plays in the community. We viewed the beautiful recently established library and met the passionate librarian, Annie, as well as some Grade 7 girls who had come to borrow books. Constantia Rotarians have made, supplied and fitted the bookshelves in 3 tranches over the past year. Our second-hand book collection boxes have also been the source of many of the books now available.
In March the kitchen next to the hall was completed renovated. Rtn Gordon Slater co-ordinated generous donations from Easylife Kitchens who re-fitted all the kitchen cupboards and counters, Italtile who retiled the floor and walls, Hirsches who donated a new stove and Mambos who supplied a new urn and crockery. The kitchen is well utilised by the Hilltoppers Pensioners group, the child protection group and any others who use the premises. It was also interesting to see their ECD set-up, to hear about the ICDL training that is offered and to see several ladies learning to sew.
